Manzanillo is a beautiful coastal city that is home to Mexico’s most important and busiest port. The city offers a variety of housing options and, like most Mexican cities, there is a wide range of homes available.
Most expats in Manzanillo can be found north of the downtown area and even farther north of the hotel zone, which includes Las Brisas, Salagua, Silagua and others. Some expats live as far north as Melaque, just over 40 miles from Manzanillo.
If you are looking to rent an apartment in Manzanillo, a one-bedroom unit in the city-center can be found for about US$105. A one-bedroom unit outside of the city-center costs about US $80. If you are looking for something more spacious, a three-bedroom unit in the city-center is about US $275 while a three-bedroom unit outside of the city-center is about US $222.
Beachfront property is considerably pricier, with many rentals along the coast running between US$1,000 and $3,000, but still relatively inexpensive compared to prices for similar homes north of the border.
If you are looking for a house to purchase, you should know that Manzanillo does not have a Multiple Listing Service (MLS). To find an apartment, condo or home for sale or rent you may want to check the websites of major international real estate firms that operate in Mexico, such as Coldwell Banker, Century 21, RE/MAX and others, or a local firm such as Realty Executive – Mexican Bay Realty.
