One of the important benefits of living in Oaxaca – and Mexico in general – is the significantly lower cost of healthcare. Medical services generally are more than 50 percent less expensive than similar services in the U.S. As the capital of the state and a major city in Mexico, Oaxaca has a number of quality medical facilities.

A few of the better private hospitals in Oaxaca are Hospital del Valle, Clínica Hospital Carmen and Hospital Reforma. They provide a range of services including general surgery and medicine, cardiology, oncology orthopedics, pediatrics and other specialties. English is spoken.

Oaxaca also has several excellent IMSS hospitals and regional clinics, which are available to expats who participate in this national healthcare program.

Dental services are also much less expensive. Well-trained and credentialed dentists provide a wide range of procedures from cleaning to implants at a significantly lower cost than comparable services in the U.S. Many dentists are bi-lingual.
