Mexico has many New Year’s traditions that are observed each year and one of my very favorites is: “Write your wishes for the upcoming year on pieces of paper and put them in a safe place. Then burn the paper when each wish comes true.” Felice and I did that last year and guess what? Our wish for the New Year at Expats In Mexico came true.

Our wish was to find a compatible partner we could transition Expats In Mexico to in 2023, after I finished and published my new book, “Expats in Paradise: Life in Puerto Vallarta.” For the past several years I have been eyeing an exit from EIM so I could concentrate more on writing books and expand my hammock time in our new home above the beach at Conchas Chinas in Puerto Vallarta.

I am delighted to tell you that our wish came true several months ago when Far Homes, a U.S.-based real estate company, contacted us and expressed interest in purchasing EIM. It was a serendipitous moment for all of us.

Felice and I have been working with Far Homes for the past several months to ready the transition of Expats In Mexico to them on January 1. They are wonderful people with a lot of great ideas for EIM.

Let me introduce Molly Braeunig, who will steer a steady course for EIM from now on. Molly, take it away!

“Hi, I’m Molly from Far Homes! We help people in the U.S., Canada and other parts of the world who want to buy a home in Mexico. We love Expats In Mexico because it is a wealth of information for our customers who are venturing into a new country and have questions about the best location to move, the local community, medical care, cost-of-living, housing and so much more.

Even though this is a transition, you should see very little, if any change to Expats In Mexico moving forward. Bob and Felice have done such a fantastic job building out a huge catalog of information and resources, and our goal is just to build on that!

We’re in the process of hiring someone who will manage the site day-to-day, publishing new articles from different people and perspectives around Mexico, and answering questions about expat life from the community. We’re in the final stages of interviews and will make an announcement in January when we have that person in-place.

Lastly, I just want to say many thanks to Bob and Felice for trusting us with this great community they’ve built. We have loved working with you and hope you enjoy the well-earned “hammock time”!”

Muchas gracias, Molly. Felice and I have loved every minute of the past six years getting to know many of you, sharing our love of Mexico and providing you with the information that will help many of you become expats in Mexico, either now or in the future.

It has been a beautiful experience but it’s time now to say adiós. The sunset over the Bay of Banderas is calling me.
